got it rooted, I had rooted my dad's android on same computer using super one click. I found some residual adb.exe process still running on the computer which i think caused a conflict. So i factory reset, and did the 1 click exploit on another computer which never connected with an android phone and worked seamlessly. Now my next issue is getting the LED flash to work with the Widgetsoid flashlight button. I have no idea why that's not working. The reboot button on widgetsoid also isn't working.

Can't help you on the LED issue, but you can pick up a rather cool free app from the market called Quick Boot, which requires root access. This app will allow you to reboot, reboot into recovery or shut the phone off (without that annoying loud BEEP!, I might add), and may be better than the widgetsoid that you speak of.

I'm a total android noob. Just decided to get an Atrix2. Was wondering what the benefits of rooting it are? Why should I bother rooting it; what are the pros/cons?

    Hello,

I have been trying to get my Atrix 2 rooted. I have tried the method above and it does not seem to work. I do have SuperUser app in the phone now so some part has worked but when I try an app that requires a rooted phone it says that the phone is not rooted. I have copied the command file that ran if that is any help.

    Connect device to begin!
Device connected.[*] Performing exploit... (thanks Dan Rosenberg!)
failed to copy 'motofail' to '/data/local/motofail': Permission denied
Unable to chmod /data/local/motofail: No such file or directory
/system/bin/sh: /data/local/motofail: not found[*] Done. Rebooting device...[*] Done. Pushing su and Superuser to device...
failed to copy 'su' to '/system/xbin/su': Read-only file system
Unable to chmod /system/xbin/su: No such file or directory
    link failed Read-only file system
failed to copy 'Superuser.apk' to '/system/app/Superuser.apk': Read-only file sy
    stem[*] Done. Cleaning up exploit...
    /system/bin/sh: /data/local/motofail: not found
rm failed for /data/local/motofail, No such file or directory
rm failed for /data/local/tmp/*, No such file or directory[*] Done. Rebooting device...[*] Done.
If all went well well your Atrix 2 should be rooted!
Thanks for using, and enjoy root!
    Press any key to exit.

    The phone is a MB865 running 4.0.4

If there is any other information that you need just ask.

Thank you in advance for ant help,

    David

The root method in this thread is for an older version, pre-ICS. You should check the Development section for the A2 on XDA for the newest method.
