It looks like the exploit didn't work, but it's worth a try manually. What should happen is you run the exploit, reboot, and then you have root access from adb until you run "motofail clean".

    Thanks for trying!

I'll give the manual steps a try. Like I said in the Edit, it might be the remount instead of the exploit not working.

OK. That was what I thought was happening but I forgot that I made the script use "adb remount" rather than "mount -o rw,remount ..."; I thought the problem possibly was that I normally use /dev/null rather than /dev/block/mmcblk0p12.

    adb shell "chmod 6755 /system/xbin/su"
    adb shell "ln -s /system/xbin/su /system/bin/su"

    with these:

    adb shell "chmod 6755 /system/xbin/su"
    adb shell "rm /system/bin/su"
    adb shell "ln -s /system/xbin/su /system/bin/su"

    Viola... Rooted in 2.3.6

hope that helps someone else that is having problems after loosing root from the OTA update.
This is what i had to do too, then it worked!!! NICE!

The "preinstall" method still works fine: http://www.atrixforums.com/forum/mot...d-2-3-4-a.html
