No Webtop on Atrix HD. Nada, Niente, Nothing

I find it very odd and shockingly disappointing that the Atrix HD is not going to support Webtop. I was considering this phone as my next device... but this makes the PadFone almost definitive...

I was looking forward to having an appropriate experience of Webtop or Android in a larger screen.

    Anyway info here:

Motorola says the ATRIX HD will not support the Lapdock or WebTop

Motorola confirms the Atrix HD will not support Lapdock accessory or WebTop environment | The Verge

So all of you with Lapdocks 100 / 500, don't look forward to this feature.

If it doesn't have mirroring capabilities then the microHDMI port seems unnecessary to me...

Sure it have Mirroring, but I was talking about Webtop 3 capabilities, which many people have been eager to try.

Anyway Webtop looked promising in that it optimize the size of an external screen to be use appropriately with the interface, having smaller icons and more working space. Also being able to run some tablet-only applications, or run regular ones in a more practical way, such as office apps.

    Proof it's an Atrix HD

My buddy has a Lapdock 500 I could try out tonight to verify one way or another. I will let everyone know how that goes.

It is interesting the 'webtop' apk has no underlining data to go along with it. Shouldn't there be some kind of physical data/memory associated with it even if it were unusable?

Yeah, it would not be 0 bytes if it were functional. It's funny that they left it in, but I'm not at all surprised it was there to begin with. I fully expect that this phone was developed with Webtop in place; removing it being a decision made near the release. I don't know the full reason it was removed, but I expect that AT&T didn't want to have to carry the laptop docks going forward due to low sales and complicated support.

If this thing's bootloader is cracked, or if they get full root and a bootstrap recovery, I don't believe it would be difficult at all to implement the Webtop again.
