Unhappy Hacking gone wrong Bell hdmi with AT&T methods = broken hdmi?

Just got a bell atrix and tested it once to see it do the multimedia features through hdmi. Worked great. I then tried to add webtop functionality without the docking station using instructions for non rooted phone provided for AT&T atrix (it didn't give me any warnings at the time). I proceeded to use ADB and then apply the bat file to the phone.

That's when it seems to have gone wrong.

I've lost the multimedia player via hdmi, I just get a blank screen
When docked in lapdock the screens just goes dead
I purchased the dock I didn't want to buy and I also get a dead screen with that.

I thought that it was just a software thing so I did a hardware reset..

To my dismay it didn't go back to being able to play video's.
It almost seems that it has forgotten that there is a hdmi port.

How do I get it back to true factory settings or how to undo the at&t method.

    Help! I'd greatly appreciate it.

    Snowy

Unfortunately, what you need is the SBF file for the Bell Atrix, which I don't think has been leaked yet. DO NOT try to flash the AT&T versions that are out as it will brick your phone. You might try the method for restoring the Webtop files in the link below. The files provided are from a AT&T Atrix, though. The second link is to the Retail Dump of files from the Bell Atrix and you could extract the Bell version of those files to be able to replace them.

damn I guess I'll have to wait.. I'm assuming there is no hardware damage just software damage. Obviously don't want to brick the phone!.. Thank you so much.

Yes, software only. Sorry for not having a better option.

If you look at the Undo the Webtop Hack method and feel comfortable I could try to extract those files you need from the dump and send them to you, but I probably won't be able to do it tonight. Just let me know if you want to try it.

I failed to mention before, if you used the auto-install script for the Webtop hack, it should have left back-up files on your phone for you to copy back. If so, the first link above is how to copy them back, just don't use the files included in that post if you can't find your back-up copies.

In case you, or any other Bell user needs the Webtop backup files (stock files) they are in a .zip below. You'll only need these if the install method you used didn't create a back-up of them in the first place or if they have somehow been lost or erased. You can follow LuisLA's post linked above to move these back over to the system/app/. You will need to get these on your SD card or Internal Storage first and then navigate to them using Root Explorer or Super Manager to be able to copy them.

thanks so much, I have to tread carefully. and will look at the bat files to see if there is such a command.

This is the .bat file contents

    @ECHO OFF
    ECHO.
:: get root access without user input
    adb.exe push psneuter /data/local/tmp > NUL 2>&1
    adb.exe shell chmod 755 /data/local/tmp/psneuter > NUL 2>&1
    adb.exe shell ./data/local/tmp/psneuter > NUL 2>&1
ECHO Wait for the count down to finish ...
    TIMEOUT 15
    ECHO.
    ECHO Pushing required files ...
    adb.exe push installer /data/local/tmp > NUL 2>&1
    ECHO.
    ECHO Running install script ...
    ECHO.
    adb.exe shell chmod 777 /data/local/tmp/WebtopMod.sh > NUL 2>&1
    adb.exe shell ./data/local/tmp/WebtopMod.sh
    ECHO.
    PAUSE

It mentions rooted? I wasn't sure if that was possible on a bell phone. How do I check?
Doesn't look like they did backup files just overwrote the files.

Root is very possible on a Bell Atrix. aRoot works for root and I have edited .bat files that exclude the sideloading and APN mods, though it looks like you know your way around batch files, so you could probably do the same. The script just gains temp-root to run the script.

Possibly look in /system/app and see if the Portal or Dock apk.bak and odex.bak files are there? The .sh file it executes is a shell script, which should be making the backups.

Here is the write up of the Bell mod that you might already have since it's probably the one you used. xda-developers - View Single Post - [MOD] Webtop Via HDMI Without a Dock - Added support for ATT 4.1.57 and CWM(Untested)

I got it back.. (at least original functionality) by copying the backup files I found off the sdcard. I couldn't get the batch files to work I got a could not 'find file'.

I just did it all manually and fortunately it works. Haven't tested the webtop portion but I'm sure it will work if I use the proper section!

    Thanks so much!

Great news! Glad I could be of some help.

Batch files... are you trying to root? If so, let me know and I can try to help with that if you'd like to.
