    Atrix 2 MB865 Battery life

    hello,
i have had my Atrix 2 for about 2 weeks now and the battery life seems to differ substancially. the first few charges were pretty good with around 20-22hrs, then it seemed to decrease to 16 then 12 then the last charge lasted for only 9hrs??
is there something i can do to get the battery back up to around 20hrs, i am not a heavy user but do make some phone calls and use different messaging apps throughout a normal working day.
for those out there wondering if you can use the AT&T MB865 version outside of the US: you can. i am using my handset in Sydney Australia on the Optus open network and using their HSPA+ network band.
if someone knows a way to improve the battery life pls post it here,
    cheers.

Hello matthres, and welcome to Atrix Forums!

I'm afraid that I can't answer your battery related questions, as I'm not a technician. We do however, have an outstanding group of guys known as the Rescue Squad, and *they* have the answers for the things that cause you problems. Hang on for awhile, and one of them will swing by and give you a hand.

I'm afraid I can't explain why you're experiencing the battery fluctuations... however I can provide a bit of advice. With the type of battery that the A2 has, it is better for you to charge it every night than it is for you to completely wear down the battery and then charge it.

I am not getting as good battery life as you are, however I am a pretty big power user . The battery life you were getting at first is incredible... the drop might just be because you've installed more apps that run in the background now.

Also, there are a lot if threads/how-to's about getting better battery life... some of them are good but many of them are not. Just remember that task managers cause instability and do not give you better performance, and while "battery saving" apps can help you, they sometimes cause the battery to drain faster and may cause force closes.

    Hope this helps.

    thanks for all the info.
i changed the battery saving settings and created a custom profile.
i set the screen brightness to the lowest available then i set the data service to go to idle mode from 10pm to 8am and finally if the phone has not been touched for 1hr the data sevice goes to idle mode.
oh and i logged out of Skype and turned off the WIFI.
the battery charge from last night is still going strong currently 30% after 14hrs and 10minutes so far.
    cheers

I recommend the free app "Juice Defender" to help with battery life.
    Set app to "aggressive" mode.
It is not a task manager and it works great on the Atrix 2.

These types of apps are a gimmick - and in short, they are the same as an app killer... The gain from them - if any - is so minute, its not worth it... Properly monitoring your apps/data, things that have a 'sync' function, proper charging and device setup will net better battery life results than anything. Trust me.

If you need help, and I appear to be offline, shoot me a msg on Gtalk, or PM me and I'll respond as soon as I possibly can!!

Juice Defender is not a gimmick App or a App killer.
It saves battery life by managing 4G/3G and WiFi radios and restricting App data usage
    without hurting user experience.
Example: The email app does not need a 4G connection to sync while the phone is locked.

While it may be be possible to do these things manually, Juice Defender makes it easy.
