Question Best USB Socket for car use

OK, got a vehicle dock and am looking to power the phone while using.
Many many options out there but most only output a few hundred mA and we all know you need more.

How much more? There are some decent ones that output 1A and some more expensive that output 2.1A.
Which is the one I need?

    Thanks for any real-world experience.

You need a high output version, especially if you are using GPS. The best one that I've found is the Motorola one. Moto also makes one with two USB outlets. Both work very well.

Understand high ouput, but HOW HIGH? Is the 1A enough for constant use without discharging or will it take the 2A.
The 2A is geared for iPads so I don't want to cook my phone.

I just went ahead and bought this one: Amazon.com: Satechi ST-2412 Car Lighter USB Charger Adapter with Smart Converter for iPad 2, iPhone 4S, Android Phones, Samsung Galaxy S II, BlackBerry Playbook, HTC Flyer (2.1 AMP): Cell Phones & Accessories
Puts out 2.1A and free 2-day air with my Prime membership. Hell I can always return it for free and get another.
