Tip: SwiftKey is no longer predicting your typing

I recently did a clean reinstall of the ROM on my Samsung GS3 (going from CM10.0 to CM10.2), and after restoring the SwiftKey keyboard, I suddenly found that it was no longer predicting my commonly typed words, particularly my "custom" ones. After doing a little searching via The Google(tm), I found a solution that seemed to work. If you ever find yourself in the same or similar situation on your Atrix, try this:

    1. Copy the entire /sdcard/Android/data/com.touchtype.swiftkey directory to another location. This isn't really necessary, but who knows, you might want to copy it back again at some point (and it's good to keep a backup copy when you're doing something like this).
    2. Uninstall SwiftKey. This will delete the aforementioned com.touchtype.swiftkey directory, but don't panic, it's all part of the plan.
    3. Reinstall SwiftKey from Google Play. If you paid for it, don't worry, you won't have to pay again.
    4. Go through the SwiftKey configuration steps, including setting up a SwiftKey Cloud account (it's free and it uses your Google login) and re-learning from whatever sources you wish it to learn from (SMS, Gmail, Facebook, Twitter, etc.).

Now, test out the keyboard by trying to type phrases that it had forgotten before. You should now find that it's remembering them once again!

Hmmm interesting thanks for the info. I wonder why they took out predictive texting? That was their strongpoint.

I don't think they did (it's just hidden under the "SwiftKey Cloud" thing now). Something happened during the upgrade that somehow borked it. Reinstalling the app restores everything to working order. I know this because I texted my girlfriend this morning with my usual corny greeting, and SwiftKey predicted the whole phrase exactly like it did before the upgrade.
