Hi and welcome to the site!
This app hasn't been updated in quite a while. You might have better luck with the ACSWM found here: Android Central Sideload Wonder Machine v. 1.2 - Android Forums at AndroidCentral.com
Thanx...

USB debugging is really only meant for development purposes, but as in this case, users have found other uses for it. Technically, a hacker, or malicious software, could gain access to your phone via USB while it's enabled, but the chances are very very slim that it would ever happen. Your phone would have to be targeted.
If the statement worries you, the best practice would be to turn it on only when you want to do something with it, like sideloading, and then turn it back off again.
I, myself, haven't turned it off in the year that I've owned the phone.

I'm curious: with Gingerbread, enabling the "Unknown sources" flag should allow the Amazon App Store or any other non-Market app to be installed on an unrooted, locked phone. So why is anyone even bothering with this? Are there really still people out there who haven't made the move from Froyo? Color me confused.![]()
