If you are rooted and have a file manager like Root explorer, you can move the MP3 files you're referring to into system/media/audio/ringtones. Placed there, they will be available for you to assign to your contacts, just like RobKort explained.

I tried but its not allowing me to move files into system/media/audio/ringtones/..
I also tried Super Explorer, which shows all the folders but even I copied it to the above location, it does not show the file in the location..

Sara, are you rooted, with an unlocked bootloader? System files can not be accessed on an unrooted phone.

Oh ok...I am not sure...well, I did not unlock so may be that is the issue.
Can you let me know how to unlock this, please?
It would be a great help....after I unlock, may be I can try the same methods again and verify.

The methods posted before should had worked with your device. What Ultra is referring is rooting your device which you will need the know how. I'm 100% sure that if you go to the stock music application that comes with the phone, long press the song you want, a pop up screen will come up and then you scroll down. You should be able to select *use as ringtone*. It just doesn't make sense that you are unable to do it.
