Bluetooth vs usb vs headphone jack.

Me and a buddy were speculating over car audio sound quality. His argument was bluetooth would have the best sound quality. Said it would be loud and clean. My argument was either the headphone jack for aux output or the usb out put because there would be a straight connection from the device to the stereo. With bluetooth since it's a radio wave( correct?) there leaves room for interference.

Now we've only experienced aux output via headphone jack since he doesn't necessarily have a car stereo, ( Idk exactly what he has going on but he has loud speakers amps capacitators subs tweeters the whole shabangabang, out side of an actual stereo) and I have a cassette player in my car -.-

Anyone able to settle our friendly argument?

Bluetooth uses a digital pack stream to send/receive information. With any digital transmission, it either works or doesn't work. Interference has no real bearing. As with digital radio/TV, clarity is as good as it can be, or it's not - period. If the bluetooth connection for the audio were viable, the sound you get would be as good as any other method.

Right on the money. The Atrix uses Bluetooth 2.1+EDR and from my experience, it has a pretty good range on it... my Samsung devices don't have range for crap even though they're Bluetooth 3.0+HS. Some devices have DRM implemented though, and will negotiate lower bandwidth connections, in which case you might not get the same quality as a wired connection.

I used to use Bluetooth to connect my devices to my Camaro's headunit so I could listen with no cords, but remember: Bluetooth is an entirely different radio than the others, so if you're streaming over BT you will have 2-3 separate radios draining your battery (WiFi, Cellular, BT). With Bluetooth streaming, you'll significantly cut down on your battery life.

I beg to differ. Anything with a hard line (cable) will sound better than anything "over the air".

Well, since most people don't carry FLAC or OGG on their devices, Bluetooth streams at a much higher bandwidth than 320Kbps MP3. But if we're talking FLAC or OGG, then yes... I agree.

Lossless audio codecs. Similar to Apple's "Apple Lossless" or ALAC.
