No, it's not. Not if you have Gingerbread. You will brick your phone.

To get back to stock, visit the Fruitcake thread on XDA and find the appropriate Fruitcake for the version you want.

Sorry, Carl, don't mean to correct, but it is possible. You just can't go backwards. So, as long as you stay on 2.3.4+ you'll be OK. Just make sure you're using the correct file.

Flashing the 2.3.4 SBF will only overwrite the system files and I recommend wiping data/factory reset when coming back from a custom ROM.

Here's the thread over @ the XDA Forums. Be sure to read everything. This is a safer way then using an SBF.

That was my understanding as well. If you were on Gingerbread when you unlocked the bootloader, don't SBF anything less than Gingerbread unless you're really keen on having a $600 brick. I'm also of the understanding that you can go from Gingerbread back to Froyo (but why would you want to?!) if you use a fruitcake instead of an SBF, because the fruitcakes are CWM-flashable files that lack the actual bootloader. Just to be safe, eat a fruitcake no matter what you want to do.

Yep, very valid points. While it's possible, it's much safer sticking with recovery for flashing when possible. RSD Lite can provide you with very permanent failures if something goes wrong, even with the right file. (think power failure while flashing)

The Fruitcakes keep CWM Recovery, and the unlocked bootloader (with the pudding file installed)..and I forget if they are pre-rooted. Flashing an (appropriate) sbf, will bring you to stock Recovery, remove the pudding (which will remove the words unlocked from the bootloader, although a fuse was permanately switched saying you have unlocked the bootloader), and un root you. The only problem is the AT&T Gingerbread sbf doesn't wipe data, so you'll need to run a factory reset after to avoid problems.

It's pretty much the same result, slightly different. But flashing Fruitcakes through CWM is much safer than using RSD Lite to flash a sbf, so if you can we (I) recommend Fruitcakes.

I have much experience with unlocked bootloaders and custom ROMs on the original ATRIX. I will do my best to hold your hand through any problem, small or large, on any phone. Please open up a thread in the help section (or Rescue Squad section if your phone is in dire need) or PM me. I don't bite

Thanks all for your advice. I should have put more detail in my first post. I have a uk orange atrix which is rooted and unlocked(both bootloader and carrier) and i am running aura 1.2.2.2. This runs fine but i wish to revert back to a uk rom preferably the retail uk rom. Their currently is no fruitcake for a uk rom. If it is safe for me to flash an sbf using rsdlite then once done a can me a fruitcake of the rom for everyone.

    Cheers..
