Thanks for that post. Real helpful on knowing the status of an upgraded Atrix 4G.

It was a long 69 pages of dev speak, but to sum up:

The atrix 4g dev team over on xda managed to reverse engineer the atrix 4g. they are re-writing the kernel from scratch. They had to do it without having a lot of information and tests via trial and error and no development kits.

Currently, they are working on the boot process and as of this moment have root access.

You did better than me in filtering lol. I couldn't understand most of the thread, just caught the tail end and figured out that they were almost there.

It's pretty incredible that they were able to do this. I have to tip my hat to these guys. They really have shown tremendous patience and dedication. I don't know squat about kernels, binary, or any of that stuff, and to me their accomplishments are extraordinary.

Touchscreen works, virtual buttons works, real buttons still need some fixing.
Good stuff, although, I'm always in the camp of waiting to see. Atrix is still
my only smartphone at the moment. I'll wait for others to install and see if any side effects happen. Case in Point, reports of stock atrixes failing to boot from an over the air update from AT&T. And this is coming from people we're suppose to depend on.

If I brick it, then i'll have to spend cash on a new phone.
