    Replacement for Atrix/Lapdock experience?

I have used an Atrix for over 2 years and with a lapdock for about a year and a half.

While there have been some minor issues with lag, this combination of phone, keyboard and screen has been mostly positive for me. I have pretty much used this combination as a replacement for a laptop.

I know at some point either the phone or lapdock will crash. in fact the digitizer on the phone is starting to go. But I am hanging on hoping a replacement to the Atrix/ lapdock combo comes along.

There have been some folks who have modded the lapdock to use with other phones but these seem a bit clunky with mixed results.

The Clambook by Clamcase looks promising, but my hopes of its release is diminishing since its was first announced last summer.

Your thoughts on a replacement would be appreciated.

I will probably start looking at tablets instead. There are more options of tablet/keyboard combination than phones anyway.

Yeah, RobKort, a tablet may end up being the route..but..
A tablet does not offer the functions of a phone.
And its more than that.I have grown to appreciate the webtop with both browser and phone display. I could surf the net, text, or make a call at the same time, without using a separate device. I could also copy and paste between the the two interfaces easily. it was also cool to be able to charge the phone with the lapdock plugged in.
I wonder how much different the smartphone market would be if the laptop would have originally sold for 50 dollars.

I seem to remember a dock that (ubuntu?) was coming out with, that would access your phones memory through your desktop. I know its not the same, but the concept is similar.

Me too I wonder that as well. If they weren't so greedy by selling it originally for $500 plus tethering plan they may have changed the smartphone market by offering it for $50 or even $100

I migrated to the Asus Transformer Infinity which is Android based tablet with locking keyboard. Actually I kinda like to two separate devices now. Asus is coming out with a cellphone that docks onto a larger tablet. PadFone 2 I think it's called.
