The highest for the Atrix 4G is Gingerbread 2.3.7. I am not sure about the Atrix 2 or HD.

Has there been a release of KitKat for our beloved Atrix yet?
EDIT -----
Or if KitKat is not released yet what is the "highest" for lack of a better term, build released?

GB is the highest official release. There are custom roms that are higher, but they are kind of a work in progress due to kernel limitations (Atrix was stuck on a 2. kernel). There is a kernel being developed that was ported to the Atrix...
ICS/JB Kernel Port Project (Atrix 4g)
It is being used in the newer roms including a leaked ICS build from Moto that was in the works before they put the nix on it (I am actually running a version of that rom on my Atrix).

It's kind of sad for those of us who met and "grew up together" on this forum, but the whole Atrix line has been dropped by Motorola and there aren't going to be any more upgrades. It was a really good phone for it's time, but that time seems to have passed.

GSM Galaxy Nexus (Black) - Straight Stock
GSM Samsung Galaxy S3 (Red) - Rooted running Deadly Venom v8.0.1 Rom
It really is a shame but they decided to make a clean break to go to three Moto X. It's such a good phone that it seams like it was necessary.

I would like to see what Moto's next "X" looks like. Might be a serious contender. Personally I would love to have another Moto phone (with a 5 inch 1080p screen).

I really didn't think I would consider Motorola after the Atrix update fiasco but it really looks like they've turned everything around. I would seriously consider them for my next phone.
As to the OP, it would really be cool if we could get KitKat running on this device since KitKat has been streamlined so much for lesser hardware but given our kernel situation I don't hold out much hope.

I agree completely. I felt the same way when the Atrix got the shaft... Moto seems to have turned things around though and I have been impressed with their device support.
Have you guys seen the Moto 360?
