    Guys, this may be a stupid question, but when you are connected to your PC with USB, why do you need an internet connection to use MPP?

    It took me a week and a half to be able to log in. Just keep trying on any of the browsers. That's what I did.

    [h=2]Moto Phone Portal @192.168.16.2:8080[/h]
    Sooo when you connect your phone to your pc it gives you the option to enter on your PC what's called Motorola Phone Portal.

    So you type 192.168.16.2:8080 into your browser and the splash screen comes up. Inside you can do everything from text people to look up contacts and change ringtones or check on battery life or memory usage.

    What I found really odd though is Firefox is the browser used in the Atrix's Webtop. But when I log into the MPP (Motorola Phone Portal) using Firefox as my browser and attempt to go to "File Manager" it gives me the error shown below. Says I must use Internet Explorer to view file manager. When I attempt to open MPP in IE it spits this out at me. IE is up to date, my Atrix on the other hand not so sure.. =/
    I use phone portal in IE from time to time to transfer files via wireless. A few tips:

    - When you want to just transfer files, your forced to use internet explorer. So use internet explorer. Its very important because you cant transfer files via browser using a different browser software.
    - You want to be Secure Login to be disabled from the app's menu settings. Otherwise, you might run into an error on the original post.
    - When you enter the ip address into the address bar on the browser, be sure to add "http://192.168.X.X:8080" If you just put "192.168.X.X:8080", it wont recognize the IP"

    Its probably just easier to plug in the USB to transfer files via windows explorer. But its pretty awesome too since you dont need a cable to connect.
    Theres other ways to transfer files by using other apps like DropBox and Syncess.

    Guys, this may be a stupid question, but when you are connected to your PC with USB, why do you need an internet connection to use MPP?
    So, I turned off my Wi-Fi and I dont have a data plan on the atrix. So I guess that qualifies as No Internet connection, right? Ok.
    I then ran/tapped the Motorola Phone Portal app, then I tapped on Connect with Wi-Fi.

    It pops up a window saying, "To use Moto Phone Portal, you must connect over USB or turn on Wi-Fi settings. Go to Settings and turn it on now?"
    It looks like Phone Portal uses the TCP/IP protocols to do the jobs its being asked for. It assigns an IP address to the phone, so it probably also needs to be able to do that "somehow"
    Im pretty sure it doesnt need an "internet connection" per say, but it needs access to the functions to do what it does its been programmed to do.

    Just a guess though.

    - U
