Admin Notifier?
I recently updated to stock 2.3.4 Gingerbread on my Atrix. The other day, I was browsing through the settings to see if there were any new features that they added and I came across something that I'm pretty sure wasn't there before. It was an admin account named "Admin Notifier" under the path:
Settings > Location and Security > Admin Accounts
Just wondering, what's it do?

That sir, is a good question. I never noticed that before. Apparently its a plugin for Admin Notifier, some application that will allow you to monitor the activity on the phone.
Now, I'm on a mission to find out what it is. lol.

Ok. After trolling the help pages on Google's Android Developers page, the device administrator section supplies support for enterprise applications to have remote capabilities on the phone. For example if you work for a company and this is a company phone, they can go in and wipe the phone remotely.
Now as far is to why it is there and gives you the option to activate it, I don't know. In fact, I wonder if you DO activate it, who is at the other end to take control??? Hmmm.
My advice to you is to leave it alone until someone can chime in with more info.

Admin Notifier ties into Exchange accounts. When enterprise Exchange accounts are setup, they supply a device policy to your phone. You can accept the policy and use Exchange or not accept and not use the service... They can control just about everything on the device. Remote wipe, pull GPS information, pull contacts/calendar/email/sms, calendar sync/push, contact sync/push, etc.
But basically that's what it's for.

Is there a way that some one could manipulate that to steal data from our phones? Or would we have to manually allow them on our end?

That sounds like you're fishing for a little too much "How To" info there, buddy.
