    gmail guestion

is it possible to turn off that "grouping" feature? i'd prefer every email to show up individually instead of being grouped into "conversations" or whatever... and yes, the "g" instead of "q" in the subject line was intentional

I just did a quick search of the settings and did not see anything that gives you the option to turn off conversation view. Looking at the Help page for Gmail for Android, because Gmail is conversation based, it looks like you have no choice if you are going to use the Gmail app to deal with conversation view. Alternatively, you can use the email program for Android.

    Open your App drawer.
    Select Email.
Enter your Gmail username and password.
Select Manual Setup on the bottom left hand corner.
    Select IMAP.
Enter all of the important account information:

    Username: your email address (blahblah@gmail.com)
    Password: your account passord
    IMAP Server: imap.gmail.com
    Port: 993
    Security Type: SSL

    Hit Next.

    SMTP Server: smtp.gmail.com
    Port: 465
    Security Type: SSL
Username and Password again and hit next.

This will set your email account up on your phone like any other IMAP account. You get a bunch of the same features as using Gmail, but not all the same. For example, email won't get pushed to your phone, it has to check it on a schedule 5mins, 10mins etc. But you don't have to look at your email in conversation view. Enjoy!

but seriously, thanks for all the info, it's greatly appreciated!

Not a problem. My company migrated all of our customer email from three different domains, totaling over 5,000 email accounts to Google Apps. Needless to say it's a love and hate relationship. But I have learned a lot from it!
