WARNING: DO NOT FLASH OLDER SBF After Installing Official 2.3.4/2.3.6/4.5.91/4.5.141!

WARNING: DO NOT FLASH OLDER SBF After Installing Official 2.3.4 build 4.5.91 or 2.3.6 build 4.5.141!!

It has been confirmed by multiple users on XDA that trying to flash the 4.1.83 SBF after installing the official 4.5.91 OTA build will HARD BRICK your Atrix! It is also causing many issues when try to flash 4.5.91 after upgrading to 4.5.141.

Essentially, DO NOT TRY TO DOWNGRADE USING A STOCK SBF.

Source thread here: [WARNING] Don't Hard Brick Your Atrix! Look Here. - xda-developersSent via rooted Moto Atrix using Tapatalk

EDIT: We now have the 4.5.91 (AT&T only) 2.3.4 SBF to be able to use if needed. Find it at the top of this thread

So once we update there is no going back to stock if u screw something up?

From what i can understand we can still flash back to 1.26 just not 1.83 specifically...is this correct?
My Atrix is back on the Pill so i decided to take off the case.
I think this is where i say something witty, clever, and cool.

Yes, if it's built off of the official 4.5.91 OTA, then you should not use RSD or a SBF. At least until more details are discovered.

EDIT: Correction: Ken's install appears to not hinder using RSDLite and any SBF. His installer only flashes the separate images and doesn't fully install like the OTA update.zip does.

Still proceed at your own risk with Ken's ROM, but it appears his is the safer way to go.

I have seen at least two users state they bricked going to 4.1.26 as well, though one has claimed success; not sure if it's been confirmed or not.

Right now it appears that the only safe method back to an earlier firmware version is by flashing img files alone, not in a SBF. Someone has specualted that the partition sizes might have changed with 2.3.4.

Nothing is certain as of yet. It's just best to stay where you're at if you can, one way or the other.

It is beautiful. Really enhanced the Atrix.

Man, that's scary. Glad I used Kenneth's Rom.

I believe I'll just wait a few weeks for the OTA or after the beta testers sort things out better

Scary stuff...well i know those guys will give us the safest way possible, because ppl screw up and have to start over (ppl like me). If there are other methods its fine, im just comfortable using RSDLite. I guess until this is investigated further i need to learn a new method to flash back.

Also, a tidbit of other (possible) sad news... according to Ken, the build that was leaked as the official OTA DOES NOT still contain an unlockable bootloader. It is speculated that the final AT&T build will not either. But, the tools to get it done are already in the wild (for AT&T Atrix least), and it will still be possible to attain even if it's not part of the official release.

Now, what that might not do for us is give us a clear understanding as to where Motorola and AT&T stand on unlocking, since it will be a non-issue for them and they won't be required to offer a statement or warning.
