Darkside Install Problems
I am having some problems and am hoping someone can help me out, I am trying to install Darkside on an unlocked ATT Atrix 4G:
I was able to download the ROM and put it on the SD-Card.
I am trying to follow the instructions on this site, and have some questions: [ROM] The DarkSide v4.4 [2.3.5][EXT4][Tweaks] - xda-developers,
When i run fastboot -w (it erases user data without problem), but when it goes to erase cache it just sits there, not doing anything for about 15 minutes. Then i just CTRL+C in command line, and do a reboot. (What is supposed to happen here, any idea how long it takes?)
How do i wipe Dalvik cache? is this a fastboot command?
finally when i boot into recovery, my option is apply update from sd card (is that the correct option to flash the ROM?)
if i try that it tells me the the update package signature verifcation failed. and it aborts the install. Am i missing a step here, for flashing the ROM?
Let me know if there is more information that you need.
Fastboot -w might not clear cache if your bootloader isn't unlocked, I'm not sure. But I know you can clear cache in CWM recovery as well as clear dalvik cache in the Advanced menu in CWM recovery.
There should be an option like install zip from SD card in CWM recovery.
So I ask you...If not, then you may not have a good recovery. Have you unlocked your bootloader, if so did you flash a CWM recovery yet? If so, which one?
I have much experience with unlocked bootloaders and custom ROMs on the original ATRIX. I will do my best to hold your hand through any problem, small or large, on any phone. Please open up a thread in the help section (or Rescue Squad section if your phone is in dire need) or PM me. I don't bite
So I have followed the instructions on this post (including all the downloads, but the ROM): [TUT]Unlocking Bootloader and Installing Custom ROMs.
Per the instructions i have unlocked the bootloader (now see atrix bootup with "unlocked" at top left corner)and installed the CWM Recovery.
After that i downloaded the zip for darkside, and moved it onto the SD card.
Then, i boot-up in Android System Recovery mode:
I first "wipe data/factory reset", then i "wipe cache partition".
Then i try to "apply update from sdcard"
I then get a list of all the folders on my sd card, and i choose the darkside zip
It then goes through some steps:
-Install /sdcard ...
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
Verifying update package...
E: signature verification failed...
It then gives me the Android System recovery utility again.
Don't use "apply update"
Use Install Rom from SD-card
Clear cache is done with CWM. To clear Davlic cache, go to advanced then you'll see the option to clear Davlic
Your supposed to choose Install zip from sdcard
Running MIUI Alpha
There aren't any other options.... there isn't an option that says install ROM -> is this found outside of the Android System Recovery mode?
How do i get to advanced? Is there some step that I am missing?
What options are you seeing?
Running MIUI Alpha
When i load into System recovery Mode this is all the text I can see (the last four lines are the selectable items):
Android system recovery <3e>
Android system recovery utility
reboot system now
apply update from sdcard
wipe cache partition
You don't have RomRacer's or RomManager CWM installed. Install one of them and reboot.
Thanks guys!!! I was able to get through the install. I am waiting for the ROM to actually boot up.
It had looked like the install finished for Rom Racer's CWM, but I guess something didn't take, because the menus were completely different now.
