    Ubuntu on Atrix

So I've been reading up on this and will be giving it a shot in the coming weeks, if only for the challenge and the bragging rights it brings.

[MOD] Full Ubuntu on the Atrix (now fully automated: 4.1.26/4.1.52) - xda-developers

Does anyone here have experience with the process?

I'm looking for any pointers or personal comments others may have.

130 views and not a single reply yet.

I'm starting to wonder if my project is actually the first to be conducted here on Atrix Forums.

Why do I feel like there's a stick prodding my backside as I near the cliff's edge?

I'll create another thread when I do, eventually, get to this project - like I did for the unlocking, rooting and ROMing to Nottachtrix.

I'm surprised no one from these forums has given this a shot before, but hey - for science!

Thing is, a project like this is aimed at a pretty narrow audience. I figure that most people are like me: we just want to use our phones to do our tasks in the most efficient way possible, with little interest in running another complete OS on it. The project has merit, and will appeal to the few that are looking to do something like this, but given what I've just stated, it's not surprising that it's attracted very little response. I wish you luck, though!

    A valid point Martin. ;-)

I was under the impression there would be a number of geek tweakers who, like me, would be fascinated by this idea, but it stands to reason that we'd be a much smaller demographic. A subset of a subset.

And more than a little masochistic, perhaps.

    Thanks for the wishes.

It interests me... But I've never used Linux and I don't know why I'd want it. I may give it a go when I upgrade to one of the five nexus devices arriving later this year

    Tapped from CM7.2 @ 1.3Ghz.

There is that. I really hesitate to recommend this, given the nature of the place, but you might get a wider response over at the XDA forums. AtrixForums is a much friendlier place to hang out, but that's mainly because we're basically a small pond; XDA can be a bit more "rough and tumble," but their audience is an ocean by comparison. Something to consider, anyway.

EDIT: Never mind, I checked the OP and you got the idea from XDA in the first place. D'oh!

I installed the app that installs ubuntu about a week ago. I first read about this from a link on jokersax's page. I haven't gotten around to putting ubuntu on yet. But I plan on getting it running in the next week or so. It's just to mess around with and probably won't stay on the phone for long since I have no real use for ubuntu on my phone and it eats up a lot of internal memory.
