Problem with lock screen/viewing screen while locked

    Hey folks,

Noob here (first time posting) and appreciate all of the forums here: have been scouring them like crazy!

I'm posting another post after this about the fingerprint scanner (not sure if it's best to combine both into one thread or 2 separate) after this one.

When I lock the phone/keylock by pressing the power key, the screen goes black and I'm unable to see anything at all until I unlock it. Is this normal? Any way to get around this so that I can at least see the stuff I have on the home screen without having to unlock the phone/keypad?

Thanks in advance for any help or direction!

I'm slightly confused as what you are asking. The power button is also the screen lock, so hitting it should turn off the screen. Hitting it again, will take you to the screen lock window. You want to be able to hit the lock/power button to view your home screen?

    Thanks for responding!

Oops..sorry about being so confusing. Yes, I would like to view the home screen rather than the lock window. I want to hit any button and see my initial home screen that has indicators and widgets...for instance, a GPS toggle switch. I'd like to see if it's on at a glance without having to unlock the keypad. When the keypad is locked and I press the power button, the information displayed is Time, date, lock status, charging status (when charging) and next set alarm.

So you want to disable the lockscreen? To do that go to:

Menu > Settings > Location & Security > Change Screen Lock > None

    That will disable it altogether

Thanks, PRS. I was about to type that up, haha.

Yup. That's all you have to do... Unless you are in an app or something, you just hit the home key (which you probably know, just double-checking.).

Welcome to the forums by the way!

Learn something new everyday! They also have an app out that you can add anything you want to your lockscreen. Widget Lock Pro is probably the best one out there IMO

As all of the suggestions above point out, there's no way to lock the screen while still viewing your main home screen. You'll either see the lock screen, or if you have Widget Locker then you can see that customized lock screen, but never your actual main home screen.
