    wifi disconnects by itself

    hey there,

    i already read the other 2 threads but no solution on those (they were old so i made a new one).

    I am often using wifi. it disconnects by itself. sometimes then stays disconnected, after turning the wifi off and on for several times it connects again.
    if thats not the case, i am in a loop:

    scanning --> connecting ---> authenticating ---> obtaining ip ---> disconnected/nothing happens


    sleep policy on never, battery on performance (which doesnt matter though i think since its only for sync off-peak hours which start at night in my configuration). in the other threads everyone is referring to the router. I have this problem in EVERY wifi i haved used so far. (home, 2nd home, university, open public wifi hotspots).
    i always have had good connection so thats neither the problem!
    is there any official solution known yet? i even asked motorola germany support and they told me to contact us support for that because they even didnt know why this happens.

    do you have any profile apps like "llama" on your device? some profile apps will change information w/out you realizing it. for example, i installed llama while on vacation and when i came back home i couldn't figure out why my wifi kept disconnecting. come to find out that llama has a profile that removed it and i totally forgot.

    No, I don't.
    But looking at the other threads, there seem to be plenty people with this issue, not to mention that even Motorola support couldn't give me a solution.
    It's not a lack of receiving connection or anything, that's what makes it so strange to me. Same with the "connecting..." --> "disconnected" problem which is a loop until it works finally after turning wifi off and on again.

    What kind of modem? What kind of security in place? What band? The problem is either in your settings in your phone or the settings in your modem.

    I have that issue in every wifi I use, at home, at university, at my parents home, every open wifi. I live in a flat-sharing community with 5 other people and I am the only one with that problem.

    Set on "never" and that works, I also get disconnected while makeing use of the Internet. And if it was the modem the others would get disconnected, too, wouldn't they? We have 6 mobile devices in the house and 6 computers/laptops with wlan which all work, but my Atrix...

    das8nt was the one who was good at WiFi issues. I would check the sleep policy first. If that doesnt work, the only thing i can think of would be to reset your home router and 'forget' all networks on your phone and start fresh again with all your settings.

    I will also try connecting to a different wifi source just to rule that out.

    One more time: it is not the sleep policy! It is turned off, and even if it was on, the phone even kicks me out while I am surfing.
    By the way: I get disconnected, but wifi stays on (don't know if this helps).
    And it is not the home router, I have that issue at "every" router, everyone else using them doesn't. It must be the phone, that's all I can think of.

    Even reseting the phone doesn't help. I have that problem since day 1...

    So from the start you are having issues with the cell phone wifi? ? If that is the case, I will contact AT&T for a replacement. If you are past the 30 days return, then you will have to contact Moto for service. It could just be a defective radio.
