How are you able to tell the drivers are reinstalling?
What USB mode are you starting the process in?

I also have Windows Vista, but I never had to actually download/install any drivers. Just plugged in the USB cable and Windows recognize it and installed it for me.

Atrix installs all needed drivers on the first USB connect regardless of the OS. Make sure USB debugging is on and usb mode is set to portal and not mass storage or none.
My phone matches my car: it's black, fast, and makes others jealous

Have done all that; still: After I click on "Root" it gets stuck on "Killing ADB Server.." & I get the "unhandled exception has occurred in your application. If you click Continue, the application will ignore this error and attempt to continue. If you click Quit, the application will be shut down immediately" The system cannot find the file specified""
Please help..

I have same issue with "cannont find file specified" I am running on XP SP3 and have downloaded the .NET 2.0 framework as well as installed the usb drivers and superOneClick and am using USB debugging. Not sure if this helps but the phone works via usb with media sync, but when put in phone portal connection it opens a browser window with the IP address and just never loads.
would appreciate any insight!

I would actually using this new method posted here: [ROOT] Another, better method to ROOT
It installs cleaner than the S1C method.
You can still use S1C, if you'd like. It still get's you root access and non-market apps allowed, but it leaves behind extra files that are not needed and could cause issues with further modding down the road.
Either way requires you to download a zip or 7z file that has to be extracted. Make sure you're extracting into a new folder of their own on your computer. Also, verify all files are still present after extracting. Some anti-virus programs have been quarantining a few of these files in the background without the user knowing it. missing just one file can throw off the whole process.

Should be, it's included in that script. You can try by going to the TeamViewer website and getting their beta app. E-mail it to your Gmail on your phone and you should be able to install it directly from your Gmail.
