GMan and I just talked. If you want to restore the phone to stock so you can install the OTA, flash the 4.5.91/2.3.4 sbf without pudding (linked to before).
If you want to restore the phone to unlocked bootloader stock so you can flash CWM and install a ROM (or just stay on 4.5.91), flash the 4.5.91/2.3.4 sbf with pudding.

If you do the one with pudding to unlock the bootloader, after flashed (since you previously have unlocked the bootloader) your phone will boot up with unlocked in the top left corner without doing the fastboot oem unlock commands. Then you can follow the guide you mentioned, the one I wrote, or use ROM Manager to install CWM and a ROM.

I have much experience with unlocked bootloaders and custom ROMs on the original ATRIX. I will do my best to hold your hand through any problem, small or large, on any phone. Please open up a thread in the help section (or Rescue Squad section if your phone is in dire need) or PM me. I don't bite

I have a rooted 2.3.4. The OTA 2.3.6 downloaded. The install ended with the robot triangle. It re-booted NORMALLY without upgrade.
Q1: is the download file still in the linux file system, somewhere?
Q2: suppose we [adb shell], can we copy the system files by hand, and ignore the checksum fails?
Q3: can we flash the firmware manually, from either adb or fastboot?
    Thanks.

Your best bet is to flash the stock 4.5.91 SBF then update, then re-root with the "preinstall" method.

    1. I believe to find the file you have to grab it *before* trying to apply the update. After install, or failed install, it's lost. I could be wrong about that, though. EDIT: It seems this update file hangs around after a fail. Here's how to grab the update file if it's there: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1041572

    2. I wouldn't try this. It would be best to repair the files that failed and proceed with the update. There are deeper changes that you cannot get to with root alone.

    3. You could flash certain partitions via moto-fastboot IF you were unlocked. You could also flash the fruitcake via CWM if you're unlocked as well.

I've received the following error after trying to flash the SBF with pudding in RSD 5.6:

[...] Failed flashing process. Phone[0000]. Phone did not re-enumerate after RAM-downloader was sent. (0x703E) [...]

And that was with the stock/locked 2.3.4 sbf file correct?

[edit] I have my bootloader unlocked - and I flashed the stock/locked version of the 2.3.4 sbf and got a "failed to boot 1" error - I then flashed the 2.3.6 sbf and it flashed just fine.... I dont know if this works the same way with a locked bootloader - I dont know if you have locked or unlocked BL....

If you need help, and I appear to be offline, shoot me a msg on Gtalk, or PM me and I'll respond as soon as I possibly can!!

I OTAed from 2 firmwares past to this previous one (i.e., Gingerbread, AT&T 4.5.91) that I'm now stuck trying to update. I did not use XDA's "Pudding" to update to the previous firmware.
From the 4.5.91 I then unlocked my bootloader.
I have not installed any ROMs, with my only modification being root.

I haven't tried to do anything such as battery pulls yet. There's currently nothing else on the screen save for those green Chinese characters and the goapk link.
Here's my original post with some info for reference. Yes, I was unlocked.

Ok - I'd try removing your battery and leave it out while you download the 2.3.6 sbf - and try to flash it... it worked for me with a locked bootloader... I was sweatin tho! lol

Could you link me to the proper SBF please? I've only been seeing links to the 2.3.4 one.

And are you saying I should try flashing with the battery out or just leave it out while I download?

Should I be running commands to clear memory or anything else?

Further EDIT: If it's this (http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...&postcount=393) file you're talking about, it says that flashing this to an unlocked bootloader will likely result in a brick. I'm already at a brick, but I hoping to avoid a brick^2.
