This is a discussion on SD memory card data within the Motorola Atrix Help forums, part of the Motorola Atrix Support Forum category; I can't retain any data on the SD memory card, it is always transferred to the internal memory. Does anyone know why this is happening? ...

Maybe if I give you an example of what happens, you'll understand what the problem is. I transferred photos and music from the computer to the SD memory and when I put the SD card back into the telephone, all the data transferred to the internal memory of the phone and the SD card is now empty.
Have you successfully stored things on the SD Card before? You may already be aware of this, but file explorers (except for the stock Files app) sees the Internal Storage as "sdcard" and the actual microSD as "sdcard-ext."
I've never seen anything automatically pull files from one to the other.

Did you properly eject the card from the PC?
The Windows Operating System (or any other for that matter) need to make sure that all of the data is written out to the card. The OS's all use what is called write caching which means that data does not instantaneously appear on the device.
BTW, This is a very common problem.
The data did transfer from the computer to the SD card and after installing the card in the phone the data ended up in the internal memory of the phone. The SD card is SanDisk 8 GB and is new. The SD card shows LOST.DIR Thanks to all of you for your help The LOST.DIR file is empty.

I could like to kindly recommend MobiKin Android SD card recovery to meet your demands. This program empowers users to conduct a deep scanning on the phone's internal and external SD card, and restore files on the Android SD card without ROOT access.
