    MB860 earspeaker problem

    Hi,

    I am hoping to get some advice re. an earspeaker problem with my Atrix MB860. I am unable to reliably hear the incoming
    voice on answering a call or hear the other person I have rung. The incoming voice seems to have to "break through" a
    volume barrier to be heard. If I put the phone on speaker I can hear OK, & it is OK while using headphones or a bluetooth earpiece.

    I took the obvious course & did a factory reset with no effect, then I consulted a repairer who diagnosed a faulty earspeaker which he replaced. It seemed better for a day or so, but is now showing the same fault, making me think the earspeaker itself was not the actual problem.

    The phone is an unbranded handset purchased from Mobicity. It is actually running Bell Canada software, & it has received an OTA software update from 2.2.4 (I think!) to 2.3.6 .

    Details are:
    Atrix MB860, Android 2.3.6, system version 45.21.78.MB860.BellMobility.en.CA, build number 4.5.2A-51_OLL-17.8

    It was purchased in June 2011, & I am using it in Melbourne, Australia on the Telstra NextG network.

    As the earspeaker replacement is under warranty I will contact the repairer again, but in the meantime I'm wondering
    whether anyone else has experienced a similar problem, & how they dealt with it.

    Any information would be greatly appreciated.

    While I don't know for sure since I've never been through this myself, it sounds to me an issue where the speaker connects to the main board and possibly not the speaker itself. Perhaps what the repair person did just created a better contact but it has come loose again. I don't believe software would have anything to do with an issue like this.

    Thanks for the reply. I'm getting the phone looked at again by the repairer to see what is happening. I must say it seems more like a hardware fault than software, but we'll see.
