If you want to change the battery icon of a custom rom, why not ask the rom developer to do it for you?

You have to change that in the theme, if I'm not mistaken. On XDA, there is a tutorial on how to make themes, I think. That might be an option.

Yes, but be careful about asking questions on the XDA Forum. Those guys have a set of rules regarding asking questions and you need to read and understand them *before* asking any questions. Otherwise, they'll burn you at the stake.

The problem is that if you want to change the icons then you have to pull a file from your phone, unzip it, exchange the, rezip them, and then push the file back. I would be more than willing to help you with that but I'm nit sure what file needs to be pulled and if you have to decompile it to exchange the images...

However there is a paid tool called ROM Toolbox that can replace stuff like you want... I have the free version, and although it can't change icons, it works great.

Out of all this, I'll ask the one question that no one else has : exactly which ROM are you using? Is it the stock ROM, and if so, which version? Is your phone rooted? Is the boot loader unlocked? If you're using a custom ROM, the last question pretty much answers itself. We'll need to know more about your phone in order to provide more specific answers.
