Well, they may lower the price if a few months go by and it's not a big seller.

"Google Edition"
It is stock android with LTE and it's going to be sold in the PlayStore for like $600+.
I would jump on that in a heartbeat if it wasn't for the price. ADIOS subsidized pricing!

I would love to see this device succeed, but I think it will be tough with the price point. I think the world needs more AOSP devices.![]()
I'll be able to have a google edition once the real Google edition is released and djrbliss releases his bootloader unlock. Hardware is identical, just pre loaded with AOSP.
You can't stop the mod. They've already circumvented the tmo root debacle and there's a bootloader unlock waiting for Verizon and att users which will be released after Verizon starts shipping S4's.

I guess what I would like to see in the long run is AOSP devices available to the public through their carrier without modifying their phone. As of now I don't believe that option exists. Everythings motoblur, sense, touchwiz, etc. Most people dont want to root their phone or do other types of mods to their phone, and I don't think they should have to. I just wish stock android was more available to the public.
it is very available - through the nexus line. Only real problem is that you must purchase at full retail, which is costly. I don't see carriers moving this direction simply because they actually stand to lose money (they do make money in their bloatware apps that require subscriptions) not to mention the control over the device that they'd be giving up. Pure Google devices aren't carrier locked, so people can freely dump one carrier for another by using the month to month plans that most have, but you can't get with higher end devices. I hope they prove this theory wrong in the future though!![]()
