Factory Reset & Google Wallet WARNING

I know at least a few of our staff and members have purchased new phones recently, with quite a few of those being the Galaxy Nexus, or other NFC equipped handsets. I just came across this article and it is something that definitely needs to be spread.

Bottom line is that if you use Google Wallet, be very careful about factory resetting your device. Also, think twice about buying a used/refurbished NFC equipped device as it might have been factory reset with Google Wallet in place with an active account and you might be locked out from using your own.

Not a good bit of news at all and I hope none of our members experience this. I also sincerely hope Google realizes this is not the best approach and finds another security method.

Indeed that is a bit disturbing. And for folks that don't load custom ROMs, a bit heartbreaking.

You now have a new STEP in your adventure to fix your phone:

    Step 1: Reset Google Wallet
Step 2: Factory reset your phone

    What a PITA!

Yeah, and that's IF you get a chance to. What happens when you're getting force close loops and nothing will let you boot into the phone?? You don't have a choice.
