Phone stolen, Latitude has it pinpointed, police unhelpful

    Hey everyone,

A friends phone was stolen. She has latitude enabled and it's reporting it's location. Her husband is setting in front of the house and called the police, but they said they pretty much won't help. They said they would send someone to the location, but they aren't very interested so its been 3 hours with no officer. He's knocked on the door, but no one answered even though someone has been looking out the window. Any suggestions on getting the phone back?

Also, the latitude location hasn't moved in over 3 hours.

Try installing Plan B from the Play Store from a PC then trac the phone. If you have Lookout installed also, you can try and wipe/lock the phone remotely.

I would urge you to let it go. A phone isn't worth getting shot for trespassing.

Fill out a police report and see if there is a detective assigned to that neighborhood. Call att and report it stolen so they can block it.

I'm sorry, I don't have any suggestions on how to push the issue.

I just had to say that this is the second time I've heard of someone finding the phone and the police not be willing to help. I don't understand it. As long as you're able to provide proof that you own it (if you can), then I don't see why this should be this difficult. If you have LoJack, they'll certainly help you retrieve your car or laptop.

Whom ever had it left with which appears it was next door and is gone. It's now about 20 miles from where he was. I let him know about Plan B and the new law that forces carrier to lock stolen devices so they can't be registered again.

Jez, Police are suppose to be helpful here, even though they are the only ones to go to if there is a problem.

It would be nice if we could call the predator or batman. I'd even settle for Spiderman too at this point.

You could always write them a note asking for your phone back. Tape it to a brick and throw it through their window to make sure they get it.

I scared the mess out of someone once that took one of my phones. I called them anonymously and told them I know where they are, who they are and I would press charges. They confessed to the whole thing and I ended up getting my phone back.

I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND YOU TO DO THAT THOUGH.

If a person will steal something from you just imagine what else they can live with.
