hard bricked my atrix4g when attemtping to unlock bootloader

I have (had?) an Atrix4g that was running rooted Froyo. I was going to upgrade to 4.5.91 after unlocking the bootloader via these directions:
    http://briefmobile.com/how-to-unlock...-4g-bootloader

Then I was going to update via these directions:
[WARNING] Hard Brick with Official 4.5.91 Update - xda-developers

While running RSD Lite, I received a progress fail error, stating that it failed to connect to the device.

Now my Atrix does nothing :-(
No messages at all when attempting to boot.

    Is my phone salvageable?

This thread is talking about a hard brick, what did you try to do to your phone and what error do you receive.

    Hi Sam,

I followed the directions here: How To: Unlock the Atrix 4G Bootloader - BriefMobile
and made it to #12, when I noticed the screen had gone completely blank.

I had plugged in the phone via USB to my W7 desktop. The same desktop I used to root it about 4 months ago. I was running RSD Lite5.3.1 and the device was detected before I selected the sbf file and clicked on start. After about 10 minutes I noticed the blank screen and the following error message in RSD Lite: failed flashing process. failed flashing process. phone[0000]: error switching phone to bp pass through mode (0x70be); phone disconnected

Since the directions mentioned that it would take a long time and I figured at this point, I might as well leave the phone connected, I waited about another 10 minutes. When nothing happened, I disconnected and tried rebooting.

I've tried rebooting with/without the battery, with/without the usb connected, while holding down the up and down volume button all with the same result: blank screen.

The only activity I see on the phone at this time is a green light at the top when I disconnect the battery and plug in the usb cable from my computer. When I hit the power button, the green light goes off.

    Thank you,
    Jay

What happens if you pull the battery out, and leave it out while connecting it to a wall charger?

If you need help, and I appear to be offline, shoot me a msg on Gtalk, or PM me and I'll respond as soon as I possibly can!!

This tutorial is outdated. If you do as GMan says and plug into a wall adapter without the battery. Then turn on and use the volume/power keys to select fastboot mode. Once you see Starting fastboot protocol support on the phone. Plug the battery back in, quickly transfer it to the PC, and continue with the tutorial from #13.

Let us know how it works.

Ok, just got back from work. Thank you for the timely responses today. Earlier today I tried the wall adapter (& every other power adapter I have, including a portable battery) with & without the battery inside & still had no luck.

While at work, I dropped by the local ATT store, which is close to a service center and they said they could warranty the phone since it was within the first year & offered to swap it on the spot. I resisted at first since I've I never lost a patient - and wanted to resolve this, but I also need the phone for work and was in over my head - so couldn't turn them down. I now have a shiny phone with Gingerbread.

The rep at the service center had one of the techs try booting it but received no love. I found out my battery still had about 1/3 power when she said they also tried with a fresh battery but still no love. At that point I stopped asking questions, since I was getting a working phone.

This leads me to a new concern of mine....rooting my replacement phone. I had no issue the last time with Froyo and need root for a handful of apps, but am not sure which directions I should follow. The last time I did not have an unlocked bootloader and I don't believe I need one now.

Could I get a referral to a current set of directions to root?

    Many thanks!
    Jay
