Motorola Atrix 4G - Stuck at Starting Fastboot Protocol Support

Hello There,

This is what happened:

I tried flashing my Motorola Atrix 4G using RSD Lite v5.3.1, and during the fastboot it failed to boot and my phone battery died. Then I had to reorder batteries (as I couldnt find batteries in New Zealand) and just got them in my hand. I have put the new battery in and plug the phone into the same machine with RSD Lite installed and running, but its stuck at "Starting Fastboot Protocol Support" screen. On RSD Lite it only says "Connected"

Please please help... If this is the wrong section, I do apologies for it and appreciate if you move the thread to the right section.

I just want to get my phone back to life. What should I do now? It was running Gingerbread version

When you boot the phone you should be holding the Volume Up button to boot directly into RSD mode. You won't be able to flash a SBF in fastboot protocol.

Will the phone boot into RSD with Volume Up?

Thanks for the reply. With a full charged battery I managed to Start the Phone in RSD Mode. Then it went to M symbol and Dual Core symbol and rebooted again, then RSD Lite software said executing but in the end it now says "FAILED" and on the phone it is stuck at "Starting Fastboot protocol support"

On RSD Lite it says

"Failed flashing process. Failed flashing process. Phone[0000]: Error switching phone to BP Pass through mode[0x70BE];Phone connected"

After reading few more posts online, I have managed to execute the "FASTBOOT OEM UNLOCK" command and then get to the screen where it says "Unlocked" on top left corner and in the middle it says "M Dual Core technologies" and stuck at this screen now

Okay finally.... After another reboot, phone did boot up all good... OMG Its working.... I dont know if I wanna try rooting this again.... Aghhhh

You should be alright. Rooting is the easy part. And once you get a ROM on it, they all come pre rooted anyway.

what should I do now to root it? Coz I tried rooting once and even though it said successful, the root checker says the phone is not rooted. I really like to know a link to a proper way of rooting coz I just hate to loose the phone again. Appreciate it.

It used to be AT&T

Were you looking to install ROMs, or just looking to root it? Like jet said above, if you ROM then pretty much every custom ROM comes pre-rooted.

Yes I have successfully rooted with your instructions I am not sure about going ahead with a different ROM yet. I might wait till this starts slowing down? Its sad to hear we wont be getting ICS update from Motorola

Great to hear!

Yes, sad news indeed about the upgrade; it would have been a great experience, I believe. Take your time and don't do anything you're not comfortable with.
