    Unrecoverable bootloader error 0x00000004

Been running on redpill cm7 hybrid v2 for a couple months now with only the occasional random reboot. Been unlocked/rooted for a long time at this point.

A week ago, I pulled my phone out of my pocket, tried to unlock it and it froze on the unlock screen. I turned it off by pulling the battery. Then it wouldn't turn on. After leaving the battery out for a while before putting it back in, I was able to get it to turn on, but it would freeze after a few minutes. It seems that it always freezes while it's asleep.

After a few cycles of removing battery, turning on, and having it freeze, it started giving me an unrecoverable bootloader error 0x00000004 error. I can still get it to turn on every once in a while, but it will freeze pretty quick and usually give me this error. When I get the error, it doesn't even make it to the moto logo. The screen turns on and gives me the error in red letters.

Not quite sure what to do at the moment. I'm considering attempting to reflash the bootloader, but since it's been working fine for nearly a year at this point, I shouldn't have to do that.

    Ideas?

Another error that pops up occasionally is failure to start bp hardware or something of the sort. There are a bunch of numbers and other stuff in that error, but it goes away too quickly. I'll see if I can catch more details next time it pops up.

I haven't come across this exact situation before, but it sounds like a hardware failure starting. You may try to flash various things (ROMs, bootloader, etc) but I dont know if it will help.

Just wondering, have you altered the CPU governor at all?

I have in the past, but for the last several months, it's just been on the stock kernel from redpill. I think it's at 1-1.1ghz. I think its a hardware failure as well. The second error that I mentioned starts with "hardware failure". I know it's not software related, but I'm hoping to narrow the hardware failure down to something that I can replace. My instincts tell me its something on the motherboard (ram maybe)...so probably time to look for a replacement.

Yeah, that's what I'm thinking as well, motherboard/integrated related.

Another hint...when I can get it booted up, it will work fine for a while and always seems to freeze when trying to unlock.

Tomorrow I'll try to underclock it a bit and see if it stabilizes. I'll let you guys know if it works (doubtful).

I got this error this morning (unrecoverable bootloader error 0x00000004) and I immediately remembered this thread. I have flashed several ics/jb roms lately with the last one being CM10. It was running like a dream, and then this exact same reboot occured. I pulled the battery and rebooted and everything came back fine. Hope I'm not derailing, but I just wanted to share and was curious what this error means.

    Adrian
