The good thing is that, unlike Verizon, they are not being forced on us. It's completely optional.

From the reviews and the analysis I've seen the plans can easily end up being more expensive than current plans.

Google N1 - Rooted, Retired, Bad power switch repaired, backup device

They can be more expensive, but I think I'm going to opt to go to the 6GB. Blasphemy, I know... I'm giving up unlimited data, but I never take advantage of it. We have three smartphones and two feature phones on the account and use about 2GB/month out of the 3 + 3 + Unlimited we pay for. The Share plan will run about the same, if not a few dollars over, BUT everyone gets to use tethering as much as they want up to the allotment.

My big thing is the tethering. I have a Wifi Xoom and would start taking it everywhere, and my wife has thought about a Fire or Nex7. There's also the option of adding a Tab with data for only $10 more per month.

With out current situation, I think the benefits outweigh the potential increase and the loss of "Unlimited" (read: throttled) data on one account.

With the 6GB plan + our 3 phones, we would lose 2GB of data allowance, for more money, before they add in insurance, taxes, fees, surcharges, etc. Where do i sign?

My happy self is staying right where I am. After taxes I'd be paying more for the three lines.

    Pass.

I agree, if you don't want to add a tablet with data, or if you're not in need of tethering, or if you use all or most of your current data allotments, then these plans are not a positive thing. I am around Wifi too much nowadays to eat up my "unlimited", but still use too much for the smallest plan, of course.

What's funny about this shared plan price style is that I pay the same price if I opt for the 4GB or the 10GB plans

I guess the number of devices you own really does play a part in determining your outcome. Glad I checked, in case I ever have to adopt this shared plan system.

    Done with this.

We're stuck with satellite internet here at home, so even though we only get 3G on the phones, they're still faster than WiFi. Until I find a way to fire Wildblue, WiFi's no help to us.
I need to correct myself on the earlier statement. My math was a bit off. The cost would be very near the same.
