[Q] Unlocking the Telstra Atrix bootloader?

Hey everyone, i know it's currently not possible for non-AT&T, but hopefully we can post our research here as we go.

I have managed to root the phone easily enough, that process is the same as AT&T. However unlocking the bootloader is a bit trickier as we have a different model of Atrix (not sure if it is a hardware difference or just software)

I followed the AT&T unlock process and got the following error on my phone when flashing from RSD:

    sec_exception: febe, 35, 35

Hi and welcome to the forums!

That, I believe, is the error message you get when trying to flash a signed file that is not meant for your hardware.

The file you are trying to flash it signed specifically for an AT&T Atrix. Most of the international phones can interchange their firmware without issue. The AT&T is locked to it's own firmware for whatever reason, and all other phones cannot accept the AT&T ROM. This will remain true until the bootloader is unlocked on the receiving handset. That is why the AT&T Atrix can now accepting the HKTW 2.3.4 build, because it can now be unlocked.

If you're in Melbourne there's a shop that will do it. He's a branded dealer but he worked some magic on my AT&T rooted phone that I unrooted by accident lol.

The community at XDA is actually working on finding an bootloader unlock method for all of the international Atrix phones. It's only been underway a little over 24 hours, but it's very possible they're find something.

Try to take out battery, plug in to wall adapter. Try turning on while holding down volume, hopefully it says Fastboot.

If you successfully get here, hit the up volume so it says Starting Fastboot Protocol Support. Put in battery, move cord to PC. Open a command prompt at your fastboot package and use the unlock commands:
    fastboot oem unlock
fastboot oem unlock ###your id here###
    fastboot reboot
    - Sam

I have much experience with unlocked bootloaders and custom ROMs on the original ATRIX. I will do my best to hold your hand through any problem, small or large, on any phone. Please open up a thread in the help section (or Rescue Squad section if your phone is in dire need) or PM me. I don't bite
